happy child crawling around

8000.

That's the approximate number of legally blind children in Texas.

All Blind Children of Texas promotes their optimal physical, mental, emotional and social development. It screens, funds and facilitates their participation in programs, activities, events and projects that provide extra learning experiences needed to function alongside sighted peers.

Such experiences are best accessed through Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVIs) and other professionals who know their students well and what extra learning experiences are needed from an "Expanded Core Curriculum."

Specific skills learned include Braille, grooming, household responsibilities, traveling independently and safely from place to place and use of assistive technology, as well as social, recreational and leisure skills.

While sighted individuals learn by observation, blind and visually impaired students need such additional time and instruction.

With this comes the gift of self-confidence and a desire to step forward and participate more fully in life and its joys.

The more support we have, the more blind children can be reached.

Let's do this together...a whole lot of kids at a time!

Please commit to them and donate now.
