White Cane Day

All Blind Children of Texas is a local sponsor of Austin’s White Cane Day, the nation’s largest White Cane Day celebration. White Cane Day is a celebration of independence to honor and recognize the use of the White Cane and Dog Guides by people with blindness or visual impairment.

These tools are the “eyes of a blind person” and support safe and independent travel, empowering each person to achieve to his or her maximum potential.

On an October day each year hundreds of blind and visually impaired children and adults parade from the Texas Capitol to Republic Square Park to socialize, enjoy a picnic lunch, and participate in fun activities and musical performances. Find out more information on the Austin White Cane Day website.
